The changing role of the Probation Service has meant that many prisoners released on Parole are face with Probation Officers who feel more like the worst kind of Police Officer. More people than ever are being recalled to Prison for alleged breachers of licence.
As some of the periods of recall are for more that 4 weeks, it is hard for Prisoners to overturn a misguided decision for them to be recalled to Prison.
At The Johnson Partnership out Prison Law team have successfully appealed a number of decisions to recall Prisoners on licence, either because there has in fact been no breach of licence conditions, or because a more appropriate course of actions should have been taken by the Probation Service.
We specialise in written and oral submissions and liaise regularly and to good effect with the Early release and Recall Section.
